How to play
One board a day: 20 lettered hexes, 5 rows, and a route to find from top to bottom.
- Start at the top. Tap any hex on the top row. Its question appears, and the answer always starts with the hex's letter.
- Claim hexes. A right answer turns the hex gold. You can then play any hex touching a gold one, or start a new chain from the top row.
- Reach the bottom. Join the top edge to the bottom edge with a chain of gold hexes. Rows get harder as you go down.
- Mind your misses. Miss once and the hex flips to a harder question with a new letter. Miss that too and the hex is blocked for the day.
- Score low. Each answer is 1 point and each hint is 1 more. The lowest score wins, and 5 is the best possible.
Hints
The first letter is always free, because it’s on the hex. The first hint shows how long the answer is and its second letter. The second hint adds the last letter. Each hint adds 1 point.
Slips don’t count
If you type an answer that starts with the wrong letter, it doesn’t count as a guess and costs nothing. Small typos in longer answers are forgiven.
Gold Run
Finish the board and you unlock the Gold Run: 8 questions in 90 seconds, each answered from its initials. NY is New York, and by the end you’re expanding acronyms like SCUBA. The questions get harder as you go, and you can skip one and come back to it.
Your Gold Run result sits next to your score, so it breaks ties with friends on the same number. 4 right earns bronze, 6 silver and 8 gold. Score 6 or more and you bank a streak freeze.
Sharing and streaks
Share your route as a grid of hexes, with no answers spoiled. Play every day to build a streak. Miss one day and your streak survives once; banked freezes cover more.
